I am obviously not single but to be honest Valentines Day isnt much around here. I of course get to put up hearts and cute decorations but only because I do that for every possible occassion that I can! But the BF has pretty much made it clear that he is against the day because its all propaganda and its overrated etc etc etc. Which I am sure is just his way of saying I am not buying you anything so get over it! ::insert sobs here::
I know I know we love each other EVERYDAY and we show it EVERYDAY so why should this day be any different right!?
Now dont get me wrong the BF is not a total Valentines Day grinch. Our first year together he bought me an adorable red Zune, and last year he got me some flowers and I made dinner at home and we were in bed by 8 I am sure. And Ive seen other proof he spreads the heart day cheer beyond me. This will be our 3rd together and I just barely mentioned in passing "are we doing gifts?" and I got the most horrible glare EVER. lol SO I dropped it.
I wish I could sit here and say yeah he sends me flowers to work and when I get off of work the apt is filled with candles, rose petals, balloons, dinner and the like BUT it just doesnt happen that way.
At the end of the day I am ok with it. Like I said we love each other EVERYDAY and in our own little way we express it all the time. Its the little things like waking up to breakfast, or him making a pit stop to Starbucks when he knows I am sleepy, or grumpy, or if I make his lunch or sit through entire Laker game with him We know we love each other and thats all that matters =D
I dont know who I am trying to convince more! Me or You! =D
lol awww, how cute, I know that eventhough you feel the love 364 days out of the year a little something on valentines day always means something to MOST girls, and those that say No are bluffing, every girl for the most part enjoyes little details and stuff like that. anyway very cute pic :).
ReplyDeleteaww that's sweet! I got everything that you listed last year except for the balloons! Some bitchola even said 2 years ago 'she always gets flowers'. I also got a diamond heart pendent. If he doesn't buy you anything...that's fine...just do what my mom does...go out find something that you like and buy it! Next time he says 'where did you get that?' just say...'Oh you bought it for me for Valentines day'
ReplyDeleteTrue! But I love to celebrate big last year i got the whole hello kitty mac collection lol ya im spoiled but youre right as long as you love eachother everyday thats what counts! ps You have a cool award waiting at my blog http://growingupblackxican.blogspot.com/2010/02/valentine-tree-awards.html
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend is like that too and I think you should treat yourself. Sure, it's a hallmark holiday, but hey, join in, buddy. I think if you want flowers and dinner and to be treated special one day of the year, he should be able to honor your request if he truly loves you.
ReplyDeleteAnd no gifts? I'm not a material girl, but I say RUN away from him. It will only get worse as time goes by. Believe me.
Awww...that is so sweet! We aren't big Valentines Day gift givers either...I think it is all the day to day little stuff that really counts! :)
ReplyDeleteI know it's a "Hallmark holiday" but he can get you some $20 roses from the grocery store...It doesn't have to be anything major.
ReplyDeleteI love Valentines day and Tom knows it. I don't expect expensive roses or diamonds every year, but a little something doesnt hurt. We do love each other every day of the year, but sometimes we forget to SHOW it. Which is what Valentines day is about, to me.
But hey, do whatever you want! You love the guy and he loves you. That's what is most important when the day is over anyway! :)
Awww so cute. :) I bought some chocolate for my hubby and a gorilla that sings "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You", I gave it to him today and he laughed out loud while watching it. I haven't gotten my gift yet (he'll wait until Sunday) but we never go "over the top" because I know he loves me and he shows me everyday. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping over. Aww he loves you. My son lives with his best girl, they bought a condo this year in Westwood area. I am sure that she feels like you at times. Be happy, life is short.
