Guilty Until Proven Innocent.

Unless you live under a rock I am pretty sure you have hear about a Notre Dame football player allegedly involved in a girlfriend "hoax". His name is Manti Te'o and the very very confusing story is that he met a girl online and even though they never met IRL, they did have a bf/gf relationship...until she gets in a car accident then has cancer and then dies on the SAME day as his beloved grandmother, & then he goes on to play the "greatest" game of his life! (Or something like that)

Well fast forward months later and deadspin.com throws his whole story on blast and it turns out this GF never ever existed! Hellooooo Catfish! I think because I am slightly obsessed with the show on MTV I took a lil extra liking to this story. Anyway the guy claims he never knew anything about it & he's embarrassed and hurt etc etc.

Now the practical side of me says he 100% in on it! His reasoning? Only he knows...the media is throwing all sorts of stuff out there saying he's a homosexual & tried to hide it, or he's wanted the sympathy card to win the Heisman and go #1 in the NFL draft and so on and so on....

But the "Hi I  married the guy I met online & watch too many catfish episodes" says YEAH that can totally happen!! & all his lies to the media about meeting her where just because he was embarrassed to admit the circumstances of his relationship...I totally fibbed for years about how my husband & I met! We didn't start with the bf/gf thing until months after we met but still.

So who's lying? Does it matter? Is online dating still this taboo in the 21st century?

I don't know the answers but I do know I met an amazing man online & we fell in love and got hitched!

I also convinced him to join in on the trending #te'oing phenomenon :)
Too soon? I.Think.Not.

Okay totally loving catfish too ... that documentary was INSANE! I am torn as to whether he was catfished - I mean I agree it's totally possible but my hubby (who i met online ;))says his parents were saying that they met her so that leads everyone to believe he was pulling for more sympathy for the heisman. I think ... homeboy got catfished and realized it WAY before the story dropped then had his parents say he met her and then bam BACKFIRED!

Anywho, I am living proof like you that online dating works! you just have to be careful of the crazies out there just like any other time in your life!
